The Saint Mary’s Hockey Camp is a seven day – six night residential hockey camp that is hosted on the beautiful campus of Saint Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota. Players will check-in on Sunday afternoon and check-out the next Saturday morning. While at our camp, players will have a variety of on-ice and off-ice activities to increase their development as hockey players. There will also be many different recreational options so that the kids have a great time. Our philosophy is that a balanced combination of fun and hard work increases the player’s desire and competition levels to maximize the benefits that they will receive by participating in the camp.
A typical week at camp will be laid out as follows:
Sunday – There will be one ice session that will focus on small area games to get everyone acquainted with the coaches and other players. There will also be a one hour puckhandling and shooting class that evening to begin working on off-ice skill development.
Monday through Friday – Each of these days will have three ice sessions per day (goaltenders will have a fourth ice session dedicated to goaltender training). The first ice time is dedicated to individual skill development. The second session is focused on team skill development. The final ice time is a game to implement the skills that players worked on throughout the day. In between on-ice practices, players will also work to develop their skills in other stations. A puckhandling and shooting station, a plyometric/quick-foot and agility station, and classroom sessions are included in the daily development plan for all players. There will also be one or two recreational activities each day so that players can relax and have some fun.
Saturday – The week ends with a final game on Saturday morning. It is a great way to display the skills that were developed during the week. All players will checkout before noon so that travel home can be completed in a timely manner.
